Welcome Pack

A welcome pack is sent out to all new members as an introduction to the club and flying sites.

Club Meetings

Club meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month except January and November. Meetings are held at The Retreat Hotel, 226 Nicholson Street Abbotsford. Meetings begin at 8:00pm however a number of members enjoy a bar meal beforehand from about 6:30pm onwards. A number of monthly awards are presented at these meetings and the night usually includes a presentation on a topic of interest to the community.

Training

The club provides ongoing formal and informal training opportunities for member pilots. Formal skills clinics supervised by instructors are often scheduled during our larger events. Access to licence upgrade tutorials and first aid training courses are regularly scheduled by the club. A number of competitions are run by the club to cater for low airtime novice pilots through to advanced cross country pilots. We also organise an annual Swing and Fling where pilots have the opportunity to deploy their reserve in a simulated environment followed by a reserve inspection and repack by a qualified rigger.

Site Access

A number of the sites we fly are on private land. Access to some of these sites is restricted to members only, for other sites membership is recommended. The club takes great care in maintaining the goodwill and relationships with these private landowners. Each year the club organises a Christmas Hamper for each of the private landowners as a token of our grattitude for the ongoing access to these sites.

Costs

Please check here to see the current membership cost. Membership runs from July to July.
